CGI Impact Windows & Doors
Authorized Dealer & Certified Installer
If you are searching for CGI impact windows, you are probably planning a new project or looking after CGI windows and doors already on your home. Either way, it helps to know where the brand stands today. CGI, the Miami impact window and door maker established in 1992, joined the PGT family in 2014 and has since become part of the PGT portfolio, so it no longer operates as a stand-alone brand. America's Window & Door helps South Florida homeowners with both sides of that change: choosing the current products that carry CGI's lines forward, and caring for the CGI products they already own.
What Happened to CGI Impact Windows
PGT Industries completed its acquisition of CGI in September 2014, and CGI continued to operate its own brand in Miami after the sale. In March 2024, MITER Brands acquired PGT Innovations, whose family brand portfolio included CGI. CGI's own website now describes the move into the PGT portfolio as partly an effort to keep product and customer support at a high standard.
On the product side, CGI's site lists three legacy lines. Sentinel is no longer available. The other two continue under the PGT name as Sparta by PGT and Scout by PGT. So if you ask for a brand-new CGI Sentinel installation today, the plain answer is that it is not offered, and we will walk you through the current products instead. Our blog post "PGT vs CGI Windows in 2026" covers the side-by-side comparison of the two brands. This page focuses on what the change means for your project.
Where CGI Heritage Products Fit Today
Among the CGI heritage lines, Sparta by PGT is the one to know if you want impact protection. PGT describes Sparta as its value-custom impact-resistant window and door line, and it includes single hung windows, horizontal roller (sliding) windows, picture and architectural windows, and a sliding glass door. That covers many of the everyday openings in a South Florida home, from bedrooms and kitchens to living areas and the patio opening.
Scout by PGT is a different kind of product. PGT describes Scout as its aluminum non-impact line, with single hung, horizontal roller, picture, and architectural window styles. Because it is not impact-rated, Scout does not protect an opening from wind-borne debris on its own. We help you sort out which line suits each opening, and when storm protection without shutters is the goal, that points to Sparta or another PGT impact line.
Hurricane Protection With CGI Impact Windows
Broward and Miami-Dade counties are in Florida's High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, which has its own wind-load and product-approval requirements under the Florida Building Code. Impact windows and doors installed here have to be tested and approved for those conditions. PGT lists Florida Product Approval numbers for the Sparta windows and sliding glass door, and each approval covers specific sizes and configurations, so we match the exact unit and its approval to the opening rather than assume every layout qualifies.
If your home already has CGI impact windows or doors, they continue to do the job they were installed to do, as long as the glass, frames, and hardware stay in good condition. Retiring a product line does not change what was tested and installed in your walls. CGI still posts approval and certification documents for its Sentinel, Sparta, and Scout lines, and it's worth keeping them on hand if you sell the home, schedule an inspection, or plan more work on the house.
Service, Glass, and Hardware for Existing CGI Products
Owning CGI windows and doors mostly comes down to routine care. CGI's care guidance calls for cleaning frames, glass, and hardware at least once a year, and monthly near the coast, where salt air speeds up corrosion. It also recommends wiping tracks and sills, keeping drainage clear, lightly oiling moving parts, and replacing damaged weatherstripping right away. CGI notes that proper care helps protect your warranty.
When something needs more than cleaning, such as a cracked pane, a sliding panel that drags, or a lock that sticks, start with your paperwork. CGI keeps its residential warranty document online for purchases made before December 15, 2025, and what is covered depends on the product, the component, and your purchase date, so check your product's warranty before assuming a repair is included. We can inspect the window or door, help identify the exact CGI line so replacement glass and hardware suit the unit where compatible parts are available, and handle the screen, glass, or hardware work.
Other PGT Impact Window and Door Options
CGI heritage products are one part of a much wider PGT lineup, and a different product line or window style may suit a given opening better. We can help you compare the options across your whole home.
